The 2011 vintage was notably wet, cool and late, not always a recipe for greatness, but in the hands of the team at Stags' Leap Wine Cellars, it resulted in an elegant, retrained version of Artemis that hads loads of appeal. Coming in at just 13.5% ABV, and agd for 16 months in 35% new French oak, this famous blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot "offers inviting aromas of red currant and cranberry mixed with hints of vanilla and dried herbs," says the winery. "On the palate, the wine has a soft entry with dried cherry, blackberry, currant and savory herb flavors. The wine has a medium-bodied mouthfeel with round, satin-like tannins."
